The pictures on this page are examples of pottery bearing base markings very similar to Charlotte Rhead pottery made by Crown Ducal. In fact they have nothing to do with Charlotte’s work and I would urge any Charlotte Rhead collector to stay well clear of them. It is particularly important for new collectors who are looking in antique shops, market stalls and internet auction sites to become familiar with these reproductions and their base markings so that they do not end up paying too much for them in mistaking them for Charlotte’s original work. If, however, you are fond of them - then buy them direct form the manufacturer you will probably get them cheaper. |
